22 M. Deaf first part of polling stations

A total of nine deaf people (four members and five alternates) are part of polling stations in the local and regional elections. Thus, the Government complied with the provisions of Royal Decree that regulates the regulation on basic conditions for the participation of people with disabilities in political and electoral processes.

As explained by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Justo Zambrana, these people are assisted by a sign language interpreter.

The Royal Decree for the first time regulates the obligation of public authorities to provide the deaf or hearing impaired who have been designated polling members of a free sign language interpretation through the corresponding interpreter.
